Organ Recovery Surgeon sought to support, organize, conduct, and direct the Vituity HEART Thoracic Donor Organ Transplant Recovery Program. Responsibilities include liaison activities among Administration, Surgical Staff, and Medical Staff; performance measurement, protocol development, research, and quality-improvement for procurement of donor heart and lung grafts for thoracic transplantation; ensuring donor organ procurement is performed under applicable laws and ISHLT/UNOS/OPO standards; assisting with inspections; collaborating with physicians and transplant teams to promote quality assurance; coordinating with hospitals to train nursing staff and transplant coordinators; ensuring tissue typing and organ procurement services are available; ensuring transplantation procedures are performed under supervision of qualified surgeons; participating in hospital and Medical Staff committees; and maintaining safety standards and ongoing staff education.
