Organ Recovery Coordinator

Job Summary
Coordinate day-to-day activities for organ recovery, including donor referrals, evaluations, authorization processes, and comprehensive donor management. Provide on-call coverage and perform initial and surgical recovery elements under preceptor guidance. Assess donors, develop complex patient care plans, and apply age-specific management for heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, small intestine, and lung donors. Allocate organs in compliance with STA and OPTN policy, assist surgical coordinators with preservation and labeling, and complete required documentation. Obtain authorization and medical social history screenings as needed. This role supports Southwest Transplant Alliance's mission to facilitate organ and tissue donation, requiring annual Designated Requestor training and the ability to travel via light or commercial aircraft.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in Nursing or biological science
- Licensed as a registered nurse, respiratory therapist, paramedic, or applicable experience and related training
- Minimum of one year of critical care experience
- Current Driver's license
- Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities
- Normal office environment and is required to use his/her private automobile in order to meet all the duties and responsibilities of this position
