Organ Preservation Specialist I

Organ Preservation Specialist I in the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) coordinates surgical recovery of organs and tissues from post-mortem donors, supports brain death and donation after death (DCD) pathways, and assists with advanced preservation techniques such as normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) and rapid recovery with extended ultra-oxygenated preservation (REUP). Works with donor hospital OR staff, recovering surgeons, transplant center teams, and CORE leadership to ensure timely recovery operations and regulatory compliance; assists with preservation processes and preparation of organs for transport; trained to support CORE consignment preservation devices (e.g., Paragonix SherpaPak, LUNGguard, LIVERguard, Traferox) and to recover tissue for transplant and research while adhering to FDA cGTP and AATB standards. The role involves post-mortem donor care, assisting transplant centers in organ delivery and fly-out recoveries, and requires a medical background, strong communication, and the ability to travel and endure long hours.
