Job Summary
Evaluate medical suitability of potential organ donors through clinical examination and laboratory interpretation. Manage donor patient stability in a critical care setting and coordinate organ placement per UNOS policies. Lead logistics for organ recovery and transportation to transplant recipients while providing education to hospital staff. Ensure compliance with regulatory quality assurance measures and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and agencies to optimize outcomes. Requires valid driver's license, ability to work 12–24-hour clinical calls, and lift 80 lbs. CPTC certification required within two years of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science with healthcare related focus or equivalent
- 2 years recent relevant clinical or donation related experience or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Access to a vehicle
- Extensive clinical healthcare knowledge
- Ability to quickly and independently exercise sound clinical judgement and prioritization in an often-stressful environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong sense of emotional intelligence
- Situational awareness in all interactions
- Flexibility with an unpredictable work schedule
- Ability to take extended call
- Ability to function for extended hours
- Ability to work productively both independently and as a team participant
- Ability to lift 80 lbs

Desired Qualifications
- American Board for Transplant Certification CPTC credential
- Organ procurement coordinator experience
- Critical care experience in pediatrics, neurosurgery, medical-surgical, cardiovascular, trauma, or emergency medicine
- Leadership as charge or resource nurse
- Experience in caring for donor patients and families
- CPTC certification as an Organ Donation Coordinator
