Job Summary
Screen potential donors for suitability after brain death and circulatory death by evaluating records, authorization, risk assessments, and hospital charting. Lead donor huddles to communicate recovery information, oversee logistical operations for cases, and provide real-time guidance to clinical staff on difficult situations. Make critical staffing and resource decisions, determine donor suitability for transfer to DCU, and assist with coroner communication when needed. Collaborate with hospital services, transplant coordinators, and family support teams to optimize donation approaches and maintain hospital relations. Stay current on OPTN policies and CMS regulations while participating in case reviews, data reporting, and research opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Associate degree or higher in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy
- Active current license/certificate pursuant to required education and experience
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- BLS and ACLS certification must be approved by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to participate in a variable 24-hour call schedule including weekdays, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to adjust schedule to accommodate organizational needs including times of high clinical volume

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Three (3) years of experience as a Transplant Coordinator
- Five (5) years of transplant clinical experience
- Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC)
