Job Summary
Conduct exterior vessel maintenance, including painting, scraping, and surface preparation for verandas, balconies, and open decks. Perform repairs on survival craft, tenders, lifeboats, and rescue boats while ensuring sea worthiness. Assist with mooring operations, gangway securing, and loading deck department provisioning under the Deck Department's instructions. Participate in safety drills, pollution prevention, and damage control gear checks. Maintain a clean working area, enforce grooming standards, and keep the Officer on duty informed of significant matters. Operate zodiacs safely during tendering operations and ensure all equipment is properly stowed.
Required Qualifications
- All valid and up-to-date STCW and other relevant certificates
- Schengen visa (or ability to obtain one prior to embarkation)
- Valid STCW95 certification
- Appropriate certification as required by regulations
- Good understanding of exterior maintenance and repair
- Must be fully proficient in operating tender boats and rescue boats
- Experience on board passengers ships in a similar role
- Physically and medically fit
- Moral integrity
- Coast Guard and Port State Control experience
- Fluent English (verbal, written and technical)
- Ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms
- Ability to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members
- Ability to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting
- Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders
- Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs
- Overtime work and irregular schedules
