Job Summary
Orchestra Teacher responsible for planning and delivering a standards-aligned string and orchestra curriculum for grades 6–8; teach violin, viola, cello, and bass; develop ensemble skills and musicianship; manage instrument care and inventory; collaborate with families and staff; differentiate instruction, use music technology and ear-training tools, assess student progress, maintain records, and foster a positive, inclusive rehearsal environment; requires a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field, state licensure in Music Education, and proficiency on string instruments; Master’s degree and 1–2 years of middle school orchestra teaching experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Education, Music Performance, or a closely related field required
- Valid state teaching license/certification in Music Education (K–12 or Middle School level) required
- Demonstrated proficiency on at least one orchestral string instrument required; proficiency on multiple string instruments preferred
- Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 1–2 years of orchestra or instrumental music teaching experience preferred
