Job Summary
Orbital Tube Welder and Fabrication Technician (1st or 2nd) needed to support space-station hardware fabrication at Vast in Long Beach. Responsibilities include creating and following procedures to set up and operate the orbital welding system, reading and working from blueprints and approved drawings, partnering with engineering to drive process improvements, cutting and preparing tubing and fittings for welding, performing system setup and maintenance, assisting in training teammates, welding components onto vehicle assemblies, assembling and calibrating liquid controllers and systems, inspecting completed assemblies with borescopes and other tools, and maintaining parts inventory. The role also requires maintaining a clean work area and supporting facility needs. Minimum qualifications include 3+ years of welding, machining, or manufacturing experience or a certificate from an accredited trade program, with preferred certifications in orbital welding and an A&P license; TIG welding and clean room experience; aerospace manufacturing experience; and ability to lift 25 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in tight spaces.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ year of welding, machining or manufacturing experience OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, welding, and/or electronics
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Able to stand for extended periods – 8 hours min
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and be able to maneuver in tight spaces
- TIG welding and clean room experience (preferred)
- Airframe and powerplant (A&P) license (preferred)
- Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Strong forklift experience (preferred)
- Certification from a formal orbital weld training program (preferred)
