Job Summary
Develop weld schedules for orbital tube welding from tubing sizes ranging from 1/4" to 6". Perform tube bending, flaring, fit up, and preparation to meet project specifications and industry standards. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute tubing projects accurately. Operate and maintain orbital tube welding equipment, including Orbitalum or AMI systems, to ensure high-quality welds on fluid systems and sub-assembly components for Rutherford and Archimedes Rocket engines. Work Monday through Thursday from 3:15pm to 1:45am, standing and walking for the entire 8+ hour shift.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of OTW experience in aviation, aerospace, or similar industry
- Experience working with tubing sizes ranging from 1/4" to 6"
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of OTW experience in aviation, aerospace, or similar industry
- Experience with OTW machines or automated fabrication equipment
- Knowledge of NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) processes to inspect and verify the integrity of tubing and welds
- Willing to work Monday - Thursday (3:15pm - 1:45am)
- Stand and walk for entire shift (8+ hours) on various work surfaces
- Climb ladders and work at elevated height small spaces, awkward positions, and tight areas as needed
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, and stooping
- Use hands with precision to handle, control, and operate tools, instruments, and equipment
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 25 lbs
- Work in varied environments including production floors, equipment areas, and field locations with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and moving machinery
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts as operational needs require
- U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable
Desired Qualifications
- 8+ years of OTW experience in aviation, aerospace, or similar industry
- Certification in welding or tube fabrication
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME or ISO
- Solid understanding of NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) processes
