Oral Surgery Technician

Job Summary
Prepare procedure rooms by assembling supplies, instruments, and equipment; set up and operate specialized manual and powered instruments. Assist providers with patient preparation, positioning, comfort measures, and safety monitoring, including observing for condition changes and reporting symptoms. Perform clinical duties such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining examination rooms. Retrieve sterile trays, set up surgical procedure trays, take impressions, and complete radiologic testing following safety guidelines. Assist with suctioning, retracting, and irrigating operating fields. Manage previsit planning, record retrieval, and supply management to ensure specialty needs are met.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion and certification from a dental assisting program
- BLS certification
- X-ray certification
- 20-50 lbs lifting capability
- Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs
- Occasional to frequent standing & walking
- Occasional sitting
- Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing)
- Blood-borne pathogen exposure tolerance
- Bio-hazardous waste handling
- Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors tolerance
- Communicable diseases tolerance
- Electrical shock tolerance
- Floor Surfaces tolerance
- Hot/Cold Temperatures tolerance
- Indoor/Outdoor conditions tolerance
- Latex tolerance
- Lighting tolerance
- Patient care/handling injuries tolerance
- Radiation tolerance
- Shift work tolerance
- Travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Certification from an accredited Oral & Maxillofacial program
- One to two years experience in an Oral Surgery practice
