Job Summary
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon role within the VA health system focused on diagnosis, surgical treatment, and management of conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, face, and neck. Responsibilities include performing extractions (including impacted wisdom teeth), surgical management of maxillofacial trauma, treatment of oral pathology (tumors, cysts), pre-prosthetic surgery for dental rehabilitation, and collaboration with ENT, oncology, prosthodontics, anesthesiology, and other teams. Admin tasks include documenting encounters in the VA EHR, participating in departmental meetings, credentialing, and quality assurance activities. Educational duties involve teaching dental residents, medical students, and other staff, plus ongoing continuing medical/dental education. Emphasis on veteran-centric care, addressing complex medical comorbidities and PTSD/trauma, and advocating for access to services. Emergency and on-call coverage is required. Work schedule is Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm. Location: Loma Linda, CA within the VA health system.
