Oracle Database Administrator - Mid Level (U.S. Citizens Only) / Platform & Cloud

Job Summary

Monitor database environments, respond to alerts, and escalate complex issues to senior DBAs while analyzing query logs to recommend indexing and tuning improvements. Resolve routine data structure issues, deploy patches, and manage import/export operations across on-premises and cloud platforms including AWS, Oracle Cloud, and Exadata. Document service requests, maintain architectural diagrams, and build scripts to automate routine operational processes. Participate in an on-call rotation for emergencies and migrations, collaborating with developers and vendors to deliver quality service. Support internal and external customers while ensuring minimal downtime during database implementations and upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  • Creative problem-solving skills that require minimal supervisory prompting
  • Ownership of tasks and projects with follow-through to completion
  • 3+ years of experience working with databases in a corporate environment
  • 3+ years of experience with Oracle installation and support in Linux and Windows environments
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with SQL performance tuning, including execution plan analysis, SQL Tuning Advisor, and indexing strategy
  • 3+ years of experience with database statistics management (e.g. DBMS_STATS) and diagnosing performance issues caused by stale or inaccurate statistics
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience using Oracle Data Pump
  • 2+ years of experience developing and supporting Linux scripting
  • 1+ year of experience in database security: user management, profiles, encryption, and audits
  • 2+ years performing database operational activities including migrations, patching, and database refreshes
  • Working exposure to at least one of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with cloud providers: AWS (must), Azure (a plus)
  • Exposure to cloud-managed databases (RDS, Aurora)
  • Hands-on experience working with EC2 or comparable compute instances
  • Working knowledge of backup and recovery strategies and tools
  • Familiarity with database high availability and disaster recovery methods for on-premises and cloud deployments
  • Experience with one or more RDBMS platforms, with Oracle as the primary
  • Solid experience administering Oracle 12c and 19c databases
  • Exposure to SQL Server 2019
  • Exposure to PostgreSQL 10+ and Aurora
  • Cloud service providers: AWS, Azure, OCI
  • Database tools for cloud and on-premises environments: Enterprise Manager, CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance Insights, Toad, Oracle SQL Developer, SQuirreL
  • OS compression tools: tar, zip, bzip2
  • Oracle features: partitioning, compression, tuning
  • Support portals: My Oracle Support (MOS) and AWS Support
  • Backup and recovery tools: Data Pump and RMAN
  • Preferred experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, and AWS
  • Languages such as Shell, Bash, SQL, PL/SQL, and Transact-SQL
  • Familiarity with ITIL and SDLC concepts
  • Fast learner and self-driven
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to research and solve complex issues independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience handling and securing sensitive information and data
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow established process and contribute to improving it
  • You shall be required to work in our PCI Norman office on a hybrid basis (1 day at home and 4 days in the Norman office)

Desired Qualifications

  • Oracle OCA certification or higher is a plus
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is a plus
  • ITIL Foundation, Azure Fundamentals, or OCI Foundations certification is a plus
  • Exposure to partitioning and to supporting large databases (multi-terabyte) is a plus
  • Data warehouse exposure is a plus
  • Exposure to Azure (a plus)
  • Exposure to PostgreSQL 10+ and Aurora
  • Cloud service providers: AWS, Azure, OCI
