Job Summary
Contracts and Grants Officer 2 at the University of Miami negotiates research contracts per agency requirements and UM policies; provides institutional-level sponsored research administration to a portfolio of departments and units; drafts, reviews, analyzes, and negotiates terms; guides faculty and staff on sponsored research administration issues; collaborates with IRB, Risk Management, Technology Transfer, General Counsel, and Export Control to ensure efficient management of sponsored projects; requires knowledge of federal agency requirements and UF regulations, and strong communication and negotiation skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in contracting
- Knowledge of NIH, DOD, NSF, NASA, DOE, Uniform Guidance, Export Control Regulations, and Federal Acquisition Regulations
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated professional experience and judgment to effectively serve faculty and sponsors while protecting the University's best interests
- Ability to work well under deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, customer service, collegiality, or ethics
- Strong analytical contract and negotiation skills
