Job Summary
Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures; prepares operating room and anticipates instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedure; performs cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of instruments and supplies; monitors instrument counts and reports discrepancies to ensure patient safety; applies aseptic technique and infection prevention practices; directs and checks the work of others in the absence of management; participates in departmental performance improvement activities; takes call as assigned; provides explanations and reassurance to patients and families; adapts procedures to meet the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients; ensures a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self; maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements and professional standards; role requires on-site responsibilities in Newport, WA.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a Surgical Technology program
- Current BCLS Certification
- Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) by NBSTSA or Registered Surgical Technician
- Call is required for this position with 30-minute response time
- Maintain regulatory requirements
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner
