Job Summary
Conduct high-quality perioperative patient care by assisting surgical teams, preparing and setting up procedures, and maintaining sterility of the surgical field. Assembles appropriate supplies and equipment, decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, and verifies equipment functions before procedures. Collaborates with circulating nurses to ensure accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts and identification of surgical specimens. Communicates necessary information to supervisors and prioritizes responsibilities under pressure while adhering to hospital policies and infection control practices. Requires at least 18 months of acute care perioperative experience, BLS certification, and a Surgical Technologist certification preferred. Supports the hospital's mission, core values, and strategic plan for quality improvement.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- BLS certification
- Minimum of at least 18 months of experience in an acute care Perioperative services hospital setting
- Internal candidates in good standing with approved certification may be considered without the minimum experience requirement
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST)
