Assemble appropriate supplies and equipment throughout surgical procedures while maintaining and monitoring sterility of the surgical field. Decontaminates, cleans, assembles, and sterilizes instruments as necessary, verifying equipment functions properly before each procedure. Collaborate with the circulating nurse to ensure accuracy of sponge, needle, and instrument counts and identification of surgical specimens. Communicate all necessary information to the Circulating Nurse or Operating Room Clinical Supervisor in a timely manner, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and prioritizing responsibilities under pressure. Apply knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization principles, and surgical instruments to assist the surgical team in providing high-quality patient care consistent with the Watson Model of Care.
