Job Summary
OR Support Services Assistant provides essential perioperative support by preparing operating rooms, ensuring equipment and supplies are available and functioning, transporting patients, restocking supplies, and assisting with infection control and room turnover. The role supports the surgical team and maintains a clean, safe environment, following infection prevention protocols and policies. Key duties include setting up the OR with necessary instruments and supplies, transporting patients to and from perioperative areas, restocking and organizing supplies, monitoring inventory, and communicating effectively with surgical and nursing staff. Requires 0-1 years of experience in a surgical services or patient support role and a high school-level education; Basic Life Support is preferred. Must be able to work in a fast-paced hospital setting with strong attention to detail and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- 0-1 years of experience in a surgical services or patient support role required
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Understanding of basic surgical terminology and operating room protocols
- Ability to operate and inspect non-clinical equipment and identify issues
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and cleanliness
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team
- Knowledge of infection prevention and safety practices in a surgical setting
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in fast-paced environments
- Licenses and Certifications: BCLS - Basic Life Support preferred
