Job Summary
Perform comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments, verify patient identity and consent, establish IV access, and administer medications per physician orders. Assist physicians and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures while monitoring patients throughout perioperative and recovery phases. Provide skilled care for monitored anesthesia care, general anesthesia, and conscious sedation, including pain assessments, comfort interventions, and discharge education. Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record and transport specimens per protocol. Maintain competency in circulating and recovering patients in an ambulatory surgery center environment, ensuring emergency equipment is inspected and maintained. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, participate in daily huddles and quality improvement initiatives, and serve as a preceptor when assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment
- Ability to communicate accurately and concisely
- Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of both the San Ramon and Menlo Park Ambulatory Surgery Centers
- Maintain current nursing licensure and required certifications
- Participate in required annual competencies and mandatory education
Desired Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years clinical experience in Operating/Procedure Room or PACU experience strongly preferred
- Experience in reproductive medicine or women's health preferred
