Job Summary
The OR Nurse Supervisor oversees daily surgical flow and OR staffing, circulates and coordinates the surgical team, and ensures optimal perioperative nursing care. Tracks and trends performance metrics for OR efficiency (on-time starts, room turnover, length of stay) and collaborates with nursing leadership to improve quality and safety metrics (SSI bundle, time-outs, debriefs, documentation accuracy). May cover patient assignments during breaks. Requires BSN preferred and AZ RN license; ACLS certification and AORN certification are required. Prior circulating nurse experience across multiple specialties is desired; demonstrated leadership/supervisor experience with staffing and forecasting to align with surgical block schedules is important. Strong communication, delegation, and teamwork skills are essential to support intraoperative operations, patient progression from pre-op to PACU, and a positive care environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Arizona RN license (current or eligible)
- ACLS certification required
- AORN certification required
- Prior Circulating Nurse experience (multi-specialty)
- Leadership/supervisor experience in nursing
- Experience with staffing assignments and scheduling
- Experience with resource coordination (staff, equipment)
- Ability to monitor and improve perioperative metrics
- Excellent communication and delegation skills
