Job Summary
The OR Nurse provides patient-centered, specialized nursing care in the operating room across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, education, and advocacy. Plays a key role in planning and delivering highest quality perioperative care within scope of practice, collaborating with the care team to optimize patient outcomes, while supporting professional development and reducing costs where possible. Key responsibilities include applying the nursing process and evidence-based practice to assess and meet the needs of surgical patients, developing a perioperative plan of care with the interprofessional team, maintaining safety and quality, mentoring and engaging colleagues, and proactively managing risks during life-threatening emergencies. Involves 20 hours per week with 7-3:30p Monday-Friday schedule, call requirements, and potential weekend call rotation; requires standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to blood borne pathogens and typical OR environment conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Current Wisconsin RN Licensure
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
- BSN Completion: Upon hire, any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed RN experience will be required to obtain a BSN within five years of hire
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire date – ThedaCare Medical Center- Shawano ONLY
