Job Summary
Assess, prioritize, plan, and implement patient care in the operating room while maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Supervise and direct patient care within an individual OR, ensuring proper techniques align with accepted standards and ASC policies. Comply with HIPAA regulations, report unusual occurrences to charge personnel, and document all care accurately. Balance team responsibilities, participate in continuing education and Q.A.P.I. programs, and assist in training new staff. Requires a BSN, current RN license, and BLS/ACLS certifications. Full benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, and paid time off. Located in Norfolk, VA, with a competitive base pay of $36-39 DOE.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required in the state where the worksite is located
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing
- One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical, Telemetry or Operating Room
- Ability to assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care in an effective manner
- Ability to respond to emergent situations
- Demonstrates a positive, friendly, courteous and professional manner
- Maintains effective communication with patients, families, physicians, and other staff
- Able to work within a team
- Good communication skills: oral and written
- Has the ability to be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost effective manner
- Ability to work independently and within a group
- Arrives to work area on time and has minimal absences
- Observes assigned work schedules and hours
- Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Printer, copier, telephone and fax
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential
- Ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings is preferred: surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical, Telemetry or Operating Room
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Should have knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software
