Job Summary
Conduct in-person disability assessments for U.S. Veterans by performing thorough eye exams, including Visual Field Testing (VFT), and reviewing electronic medical records via a secure web portal. Accurately document exam findings and complete required VA forms without involvement in treatment, medication prescribing, or disability determinations. Work a part-time schedule of 3-4 days per week with a caseload of 4-6 Veterans daily, utilizing provided equipment for documentation. This non-treating, non-determination role supports the Veteran community through structured assessments, offering a predictable schedule with no on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Holds an active & unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license
- Proficient in Visual Field Testing (VFT)
- Comfortable using technology to review records and complete documentation
- A compassionate Optometrist or Ophthalmologist dedicated to supporting the Veteran community
- Strong analytical skills to review medical records and assessment data
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in electronic documentation and web-based portals
- A professional and empathetic demeanor when interacting with Veterans
