Optometrist (OD) – Ophthalmology Practice

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, vision assessments, and refractive evaluations while prescribing and managing eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction solutions. Monitor and manage patients with chronic eye conditions, develop individualized treatment plans, and co-manage pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients in collaboration with ophthalmologists. Educate patients regarding eye health, treatment options, disease prevention, and proper vision care while coordinating patient care with ophthalmologists, primary care providers, and referring physicians. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
- Current NJ/NY Optometry License in good standing
- Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certification, if required by state regulations
- Strong diagnostic, clinical decision-making, and patient management skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary ophthalmology team
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a medical optometry or ophthalmology-based practice preferred
