Job Summary
Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient eye care, including conducting pre-testing or special testing, taking patient history, guiding patients through the eye care and clinical experience, and documenting information. Perform tasks such as taking measurements, using clinical instruments, administering tests to assess visual capabilities, educate on contact lens insertion/removal, manage contact lens trials inventory, administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications, and scribe for the doctor. Ensure smooth patient flow, communicate effectively with doctors, staff, and patients, and assist in other office duties as needed. Requires 1-2 years of related experience, proficiency with MS Office, strong verbal and written communication, and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support cross-training in different departments.
Required Qualifications
- One to two years of experience in related field
- Working knowledge of MS Office package
- Effective verbal communication skills to prioritize multiple tasks
- Effective written communication skills to clearly document patient visits
- Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills
- Ability to ask appropriate and relevant questions to identify patient needs
- Ability to listen, process transactions and interact with patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
