Job Summary
The Optometric Technician provides pre-examination screenings and testing to support the optometrist, helps maintain patient flow, and explains preliminary examinations. Responsibilities include promoting visual field testing and retinal screenings, reviewing prescriptions and patient information for special needs, maintaining equipment in the pre-test and Doctor’s areas, and ensuring a professional office environment. Training is provided, and Sundays are off. The role emphasizes high-quality patient care, customer service, organization, and the ability to learn optical knowledge while working in a retail optical setting.
Required Qualifications
- Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to learn optical knowledge
- Able to give instruction in a clear and concise manner to customers
- Effective interpersonal skills
