Job Summary

Pre-screen patients, administer diagnostic tests, and gather medical histories before optometrist exams. Educate patients on insurance coverage, contact lens care, and vision benefits while accurately posting charges and obtaining authorizations. Document exams, list diagnoses and prescriptions, and coordinate scheduling to monitor patient flow. Answer calls, greet visitors, and communicate with doctors and staff to ensure a flawless patient experience. This part-time role reports to the Practice Manager and requires flexibility for schedule changes.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to do basic math
  • Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
  • Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
  • Must be flexible to accommodate schedule change(s) on short notice to fulfill business needs
  • Part-time individual

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Optometric Technician, preferred but not required
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records, preferred but not required
