Job Summary
Pre-screen patients with diagnostic tests, gather medical histories, and educate them on insurance coverage and contact lens care. Assist the optometrist by obtaining insurance authorizations, posting charges for exams and products, and accurately documenting procedures and prescriptions. Coordinate patient scheduling, monitor office flow, and communicate delays while greeting patients and answering calls. Maintain excellent communication with doctors and staff to ensure a flawless patient experience. This full-time, hourly role reports to the Practice Manager and requires flexibility for schedule changes.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
- Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
- Must be flexible to accommodate schedule change(s) on short notice to fulfill business needs
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician, preferred but not required
- Previous experience with electronic medical records, preferred but not required
