Job Summary
Support the optometrist in patient care by performing pre-screening and diagnostic tests, gathering medical history, communicating with doctors and patients, answering phones and scheduling, educating patients on insurance coverage and vision benefits, training patients on contact lens use, obtaining insurance authorizations, posting charges for exams and products, assisting team members to meet goals, documenting exams and procedures in the EMR, noting diagnoses and follow-up instructions, and coordinating patient scheduling and flow. Requires strong customer service, 1+ year experience, HS diploma or equivalent, excellent communication, multitasking, organizational and math skills, and flexibility. This is a full-time role in Lexington, KY.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience in optometric/medical field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
- Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
- Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes on short notice
- Previous experience with electronic medical records (preferred)
