Job Summary
Assist the Optometrist with patient care, perform pre-screening and diagnostic tests, gather patient medical history, communicate with doctors, staff, and patients, greet and schedule appointments, educate patients on insurance coverage and vision benefits, train patients on proper contact lens use, obtain insurance authorizations and verification of benefits, accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold, assist team to reach goals, document optometry exams and procedures, list diagnoses and follow-up instructions, coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, and thoroughly document exams as performed by the doctor.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent customer service skills
- 1+ years of experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
- Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
- Flexible to accommodate schedule changes
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician (preferred but not required)
- Experience with electronic medical records (preferred but not required)
