Job Summary
Pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist, including the administration of diagnostic tests, while gathering medical history and obtaining insurance authorizations. Answer phone calls, greet patients, and schedule appointments, then educate them on vision benefits and contact lens care. Accurately post charges for exam fees and products, document optometry exams and prescriptions, and coordinate patient scheduling to monitor office flow. This role supports the Optometrist in delivering high-quality care and a flawless patient experience at Professional Vision Eyecare in Timonium.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
- Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
- Must be flexible to accommodate schedule change(s) on short notice to fulfill business needs
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician, preferred but not required
- Previous experience with electronic medical records, preferred but not required
