The Optometric Technician role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service to patients, supporting physicians by anticipating their needs, and ensuring a smooth clinic flow. Key responsibilities include verifying patient information, recording medical history in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), performing diagnostic tests, documenting medical visits, and preparing patients for treatments. Required skills include dilation, refraction, and proficiency with various diagnostic equipment. Qualifications encompass a high school diploma and at least one year of relevant experience, with a preference for Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification. Strong communication, organizational skills, and a team-oriented mindset are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent patient care and empathetic communication skills
- Ability to comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards
- Organizational skills and initiative in improving patient flow
- Ability to work over 40 hours and on weekends if applicable
- Reliable transportation to multiple work locations
