Job Summary
Accurately enter patient data into EHR during exams and assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with procedures. Escort patients to the optical, coordinate scheduling, and monitor office flow while communicating delays. Prepare exam rooms, maintain inventory, and perform diagnostic tests and vision therapy. Collect medical histories and instruct patients on medications and procedures. Provide a safe, clean environment and answer telephone inquiries. Occasional travel to support other offices may be requested. This role supports the doctor's time with patients and includes growth opportunities through a company-paid certification program.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on a regular basis from floor to waist
- Must be able to lift 5 lbs from waist to shoulder
- Must be able to lift 5 lbs from shoulder to overhead
- Ability to stand for sustained periods of time
- Ability to stoop
- Ability to grasp
- Ability to talk
- Ability to hear
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
- Proficient in EHR
- Exceptional keyboarding skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to obtain knowledge and skills on the job or through educational courses
