Job Summary
Optometric Medical Technician assists the Optometrist with eye examinations, performs testing on visual capabilities, explains testing to patients, takes histories and enters information into medical records, assists with contact lens insertion/removal and patient education, maintains equipment and clinic inventory, and supports a fast-paced optometry practice. Must be detail-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to manage multiple tasks, and adhere to HIPAA privacy guidelines. In-office duties span routine exams, specialty eye-disease testing, glasses and contact lens care, and occasional eye emergencies. Training provided; position offered at multiple north Maine locations with in-person attendance required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Optometric Technician Certification preferred but not required (will help obtain)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- HIPAA privacy knowledge
- Regular in-person attendance
