Job Summary
Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant responsible for preparing patients for onsite and/or remote eye examinations, completing pre-exam diagnostic tests, and explaining each step of the process. Acts as liaison between patients and Optometrists, assists onsite and remote doctors with eye examinations, administers preliminary tests, documents results in EMR, facilitates remote exams (including initiating video conferencing), preauthorizes insurance, schedules appointments, maintains patient records, and instructs patients on contact lens care. Requires strong patient service, HIPAA compliance, ability to articulate plan benefits, and flexibility to travel between locations. Education/experience: HS diploma/GED or equivalent; minimum 1 year related experience; training provided. Essential traits include meticulous attention to detail, effective communication, teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving ability.
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year of related experience
- HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
- Optical or Healthcare background preferred
- Medical office/business professionalism required
