Job Summary
Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant assists in preparing patients for on-site and remote eye examinations, performs pre-exam diagnostic tests, explains each step of the process, and serves as a liaison between patients and Optometrists. Responsibilities include assisting onsite doctors with patient care and testing, guiding remote eye exams (pre-testing, documentation in EMR, coordinating video conferencing), transitioning patients to retail staff after exams, understanding vision plan benefits, preauthorizing insurance, scheduling exams, maintaining patient records, instructing on contact lens care, and ensuring a clean clinical environment. Must be able to travel to other locations as needed and support HIPAA/data-security requirements.
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year of related experience
- HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
- Optical or Healthcare background preferred
