Job Summary
The Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant helps ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, completing pre-exam diagnostic tests, and explaining each step of the process. Acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, assists with both in-office and remote eye exams, administers preliminary tests and documents results in EMR, and coordinates with retail associates on exam scheduling, insurance preauthorization, and patient flow. Responsibilities include explaining test procedures to patients, initiating remote video conferencing, transitioning patients to retail staff after exams, understanding MVC plans, handling plan benefits, and maintaining accurate patient records. Requires ability to work flexible schedules and travel between locations. Education/experience: HS diploma or GED or equivalent, one year of related experience; optical/healthcare background preferred; HIPAA compliance and data security are essential. Training provided; start pay ranges from $18 to $27 per hour with additional incentives and overtime opportunities.
