Job Summary
Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant supports onsite and remote eye exams by preparing patients, performing pre-exam diagnostic tests, and documenting results in EMR; acts as liaison between patients and Optometrists; assists with remote exam workflow including pre-testing and coordination of video conferencing; transitions patients to retail associates post-exam, communicates doctor recommendations, and explains plan benefits; maintains patient records, assists with insurance preauthorization, schedules appointments, manages exam books, triages ocular emergencies, teaches contact lens handling, and ensures a clean clinical environment while supporting training and HIPAA/security compliance; requires flexibility to travel to other locations and 1 year of related experience with HS diploma/GED; strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
