Job Summary
Optometric Assistant/Clinical Specialist responsible for preparing patients for onsite and remote eye examinations, performing pre-exam diagnostic tests, and documenting results in EMR. Acts as a liaison between patients and Optometrists, assists with in-person and remote eye exams, initiates remote conferencing, schedules appointments, manages exam flow, explains testing steps, and transitions patients to retail staff with doctor recommendations. Requires ability to explain plan benefits, preauthorize insurance, and maintain accurate records. Travel to other locations may be required. Education/experience: one year of related experience; optical or healthcare background preferred; HS diploma or equivalent; training provided. Essential skills include strong patient service, attention to detail, ability to communicate clearly, HIPAA compliance, and proficiency with electronic medical records and insurance forms.
