Job Summary
The Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant helps ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote eye examinations, performing pre-exam diagnostics, documenting results in EMR, and coordinating between patients, optometrists, and retail staff. Responsibilities include guiding patients through remote pre-testing and testing, initiating remote video conferencing with doctors/techs, documenting results, assisting with insurance preauthorization, scheduling/exam-book management, educating patients on contact lenses, and maintaining patient records with HIPAA compliance. The role requires excellent customer service, strong organization, ability to multi-task, and willingness to travel between store locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience
- HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
- Optical or Healthcare background preferred
- Medical office/business professionalism required
- Training provided
- HIPAA compliance and PHI handling proficiency
