Job Summary
The Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant primarily helps ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite and remote examinations, completing pre-exam diagnostic tests, and explaining each step of the process. Responsibilities include assisting onsite doctors with patient care and eye examinations, conducting preliminary tests and documenting results in EMR, supporting remote eye exams (pre-testing, testing, video conferencing), transitioning patients to retail staff after exams, understanding MVC plan benefits, preauthorizing insurance, scheduling appointments, maintaining patient flow, answering clinical questions, triaging emergencies, maintaining accurate patient records, instructing on contact lens care and orders, and participating in required clinical training. Travel to other locations may be required; HIPAA and data-security compliance are mandatory; the role is hourly, part-time and offers a pay range of $18-$27 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience
- Optical or Healthcare background preferred
- Medical office/business professionalism required
- HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
