Job Summary
The Optomechanical Packaging Design Engineer will lead optomechanical design and optical sub-assembly design, focusing on advanced photonics packaging solutions. Responsibilities include developing multi-fiber optical connectors and working with external vendors on the connector ecosystem. Daily tasks involve working with 3D solid models, drawings, and documentation, performing tolerance and thermal analyses, and assessing designs against environmental requirements. Candidates should have extensive experience in optical communication industries, proficiency in Solidworks or ProE, and a strong understanding of FEA and GD&T principles.
Required Qualifications
- Expert level knowledge on optomechanical design
- Experience performing tolerance analyses for precision alignment
- Experience with thermal, structural/stress, and vibration analyses
- Ability to conduct test and verification efforts
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts
Desired Qualifications
- MS and Ph.D in optics or mechanical engineering
- Industrial experience in optical communication industries
- Advanced packaging experience
- Expert level knowledge on optomechanical design
- Knowledge of Solidworks or ProE, GD&T, and ASME 14.5
- Understanding of FEA for stress and thermal analysis
- Familiarity with Ansys Mechanical and Icepak simulation tools
