Job Summary
Fit patients with eyeglasses by administering and interpreting prescriptions, measuring bridge and eye size, and verifying lens accuracy. Assess customer needs, recommend lenses and frames, and adjust eyeglasses to ensure proper visual outcomes. Prepare work orders for grinding and fabricating, maintain records of prescriptions and payments, and manage inventory and sales. Repair damaged products and uphold clinical hygiene standards while respecting patient confidentiality. Requires American Board of Opticianry certification within 12 months of hire and a minimum of two years related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
- three years apprenticeship on-the-job training
- one to two years related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification within 12 months of hire into the position
- Minimum 2 years related experience
