Job Summary
Dispense and fit glasses and contact lenses by measuring bridge, eye size, temple length, and pupillary distance using auto- and manual lensometers. Assist patients in selecting frames based on style, color, and facial measurements while recommending specific lenses and coatings. Accurately collect optical prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists, then dispense orders in E360 and repair or adjust frames. Maintain frame inventory accuracy, clean fully stocked areas, and follow all job aids and HIPAA protocols. Perform general office duties as assigned by the manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year in a customer interactive position; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret insurance forms
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Current ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications (or obtained with first 2 years of employment)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to climb
