Job Summary
Dispense opticianry services and serve as an optometric assistant to facilitate clinical optometric care for customer-owners within the Southcentral Foundation optometry program. Progress from Optician Apprentice I to Optician II within two years, maintaining licensure as a Dispensing Optician Apprentice in Alaska or obtaining it within two months of hire. Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within 60 days of employment. Ensure compliance with all employee health procedures, including required immunizations for Health Care Personnel positions prior to the first day.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma; OR GED
- Licensed as a Dispensing Optician Apprentice in the State of Alaska; OR become licensed within two (2) months of hire as a Dispensing Optician Apprentice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Licensed as an Optician in the State of Alaska within two (2) years of being a licensed Dispensing Optician Apprentice
- Compliance with our Employee Health Procedure
- Agreement to comply with all job-related employee health screening and immunizations prior to your first day of employment
- Documentation that you have completed the following immunizations prior to your first day of employment: MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B, Influenza, T-dap (Tetanus - Diphtheria - Pertussis), and COVID-19 vaccination
Desired Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF's geographical service area
