Job Summary
As a Precision Optical Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting high-precision optical and opto-mechanical systems. Key responsibilities include surface fit system testing, laser alignment, coating and LED wavelength testing, and maintaining a clean work environment. Required qualifications include an Associate degree or a high school diploma with relevant experience, and excellent communication skills. The role demands proficiency with hand tools and basic metrology instruments, as well as a commitment to quality and organization. Level III Technicians will perform advanced troubleshooting and provide guidance to others.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in technology specialty such as machine tools, electronics, Optics, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 5 years’ experience in optical inspection or assembly. (10 years experience for Level III)
- Positive attitude.
- Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
- Basic math skills (addition/subtraction/division/multiplication/fractions/decimals/percentages).
- Basic hand tools: wrenches, spanner wrenches, torque wrenches, screwdrivers.
- Basic metrology instruments: calipers, micrometers, scales, dial indicators, gage blocks.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate through use of browsers.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with lens stacking, laser alignment, clean room and interferometry
- Experience in applying the inspection, assembly and alignment skills defined above in a product development environment.
- Experience in process development, process writing.
