Job Summary
Dispense and fit glasses and contacts by measuring facial features, calculating pupillary distance, and operating lensometers to ensure accurate prescriptions. Assist patients in selecting frames based on style and color while educating them on lens coatings and specific optical needs. Repair and adjust frames, collect precise measurements for bridge, eye size, and temple length, and connect patient requirements to available goods and services. Build relationships with patients to exceed their expectations while supporting medical needs within the eye care continuum.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Favorable result on background check
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Able to operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer
- Can accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Previous medical office experience
- Previous ophthalmic experience
- ABO and NCLE certifications
