Job Summary
Dispense and fit glasses and contacts based on prescriptions from optometrists and ophthalmologists while assisting patients in selecting frames that match their style, color, and facial measurements. Operate auto-lensometers and manual lensometers to educate patients on specific lenses, coatings, and frames suited to their needs. Accurately collect measurements including bridge, eye size, temple length, and pupillary distance, then repair and adjust frames to ensure proper fit. Collect patient orders and coordinate frame coordination with optical prescriptions to maximize retail sales while supporting medical needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
- Strong fine motor skills
- Full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Constant grasping
- Writing/typing
- Use of technology
- Ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Previous medical office experience
- Previous ophthalmic experience
- ABO and NCLE certifications
