Job Summary

Promote frames and lenses recommended by the doctor to meet patient needs while adjusting and repairing glasses. Facilitate patient flow, verify medical and vision insurances, and effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers. Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests. Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating measurements with optical prescriptions. Operate auto-lensometers and manual lensometers to accurately collect bridge, eye size, temple length, and pupillary distance data. Dispense patient orders in E360 and maintain frame standards through cleaning and inventory organization. Full-time Monday through Saturday hours with competitive base pay and benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Favorable result on Background Check
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excitement to learn and grow
  • Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
  • Minimum of 1 year in a position interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications (or obtained with first 2 years of employment)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
  • Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
  • Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret insurance forms
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • HIPAA compliance as it pertains to disclosures of protected health information (PHI)
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous medical office experience
  • Previous ophthalmic experience
  • Current ABO/ABOC and NCLE certifications (obtained with first 2 years of employment)
