Job Summary
Optical Manufacturing Engineer at G&H will act as the senior technical authority for optical manufacturing at the Keene, NH site, defining, optimizing, and scaling manufacturing processes for complex optical systems and assemblies. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Leadership to ensure robust, scalable processes that meet customer, quality, delivery, and financial objectives in a high-mix, low-volume environment. Responsibilities include setting manufacturing standards and work instructions, leading readiness assessments for new products and changes, influencing product design for manufacturability, driving continuous improvement (quality, throughput, yield, cost reduction), leading root cause investigations, monitoring process metrics, supporting production escalations and supplier issues, qualifying technologies and suppliers, championing metrology and process validation practices, and mentoring others while contributing to ISO 9001 quality system compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 10–15+ years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in highly engineered, high-mix, low-volume environments
- Demonstrated expertise supporting complex optical systems, photonics, aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or similarly regulated industries
- Experience leading manufacturing readiness, process development, NPI/NPD integration, technology transfer, and process optimization initiatives
- Strong knowledge of optical manufacturing processes, metrology systems, process validation, statistical process control
- Experience driving measurable improvements in quality, yield, throughput, cost, and operational performance
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems; AS9100 experience strongly preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
- Ability to influence and lead across functions without direct authority
- Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data analytics tools preferred
