Job Summary
Measure clients' bridge, eye size, temple length, and pupillary distance using measuring devices. Assist patients with eyeglasses and contact lens ordering, fittings, and frame selection while recommending specific lenses, coatings, and accessories. Verify finished lenses are ground to specifications, create work orders for lab technicians, and repair broken or damaged frames. Communicate with physicians regarding prescription questions and educate clients on proper wear and care. Maintain inventory, track orders, and arrange optical merchandise displays. Interpret prescriptions from ophthalmologists and optometrists.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 5 years eyecare experience
- State Licensed Master Optician
- Minimum Associates or equivalent and on-the-job training or post-secondary education
- Strong computer knowledge and skills with a minimum typing speed of 30 AW PM
- Ability to navigate multiple system applications
- Ability to effectively communicate
